Mark Weber, executive director of the Eden Prairie Community Foundation.
Mark Weber has been the executive director of the Eden Prairie Community Foundation since October 2013. But he’s worked in the community since 1979 and been an Eden Prairie resident since 1984.
For most of that time he was immersed in community goings-on, serving first as a local newspaper reporter and then as editor and publisher before serving 10 years as general manager of the newspaper’s parent company.
In 2013 he made the pivot to non-profit work, and studied at the Institute for Executive Director Leadership at the University of St. Thomas. Eden Prairie has quadrupled in population during his time in Eden Prairie. Let’s just say there were a lot fewer stoplights when he came in 1979.
“It’s been exciting to see Eden Prairie grow into a full-fledged and highly rated suburb,” Weber said. “And it’s been a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
“I’ve met a ton of people over the years, and now I’m reconnecting with them in this new role where we’re looking for ways to make Eden Prairie even better. If you’ve got some ideas on how to do that, please reach out to me so we can talk.”
