In the spirit of “We do better together,” the Foundation’s spring gala known as “EP Gives” is about bringing people together – in this case, to celebrate! What’s celebrated is another year of philanthropy and the latest round of Foundation grant winners.
Of course, it’s also a fundraiser, one that supports the Foundation’s ongoing work in philanthropy, collaboration, and leadership.
The 2018 “EP Gives” was held 6-11:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Oak Ridge Hotel & Conference Center in Chaska, and more than 200 people attended this event.
Here are some of the 2018 EP Gives highlights:
- Conn McCartan, emcee. This was a chance for the community to thank Conn McCartan for his community service as he retires as longtime principal of Eden Prairie High School.
- Grantees recognized. Nine organizations were awarded 2018 grants from the Foundation, and explained how their projects will help Eden Prairie residents.
- Scholarships awarded. EPHS senior Ethan Jones was awarded the 2018 Dr. Jean Harris Scholarship for his outstanding work on diversity and human rights issues. Last year’s winner, Naya Hill, was awarded a second-year scholarship.
- You helped launch a new program. Approximately $25,000 was raised on the spot for Onward Eden Prairie, a new program to help local young people who are precariously housed.
