In the spirit of “We do better together,” the Foundation’s spring gala known as “EP Gives” is about bringing people together – in this case, to celebrate!
What’s celebrated is another year of philanthropy and the latest round of Foundation grant winners.
Of course, it’s also a fundraiser, one that supports the Foundation’s ongoing work in philanthropy, collaboration, and leadership.
The 2017 “EP Gives” event, brought to you by title sponsor Starkey Hearing Technologies, was held on Saturday, April 29, and had several new twists that made it a very successful event. They included:
- A new venue. We moved to Oak Ridge Hotel & Conference Center in Chaska – an easy, 12-minute drive from Eden Prairie – where there was plenty of parking and you could even stay overnight.
- Great food from an award-winning chef. Attendees samples hors d’oeuvres from four countries, as expertly prepared by Chef Virgil Emmert, CEC, ACE. Emmert was the 2014 American Culinary Federation Chef of the Year for the Minneapolis Chapter.
- A hot new band. After dessert and coffee, people danced the night away to music from The Dap Squad, billed as the “Midwest’s No. 1 Variety Event Band,” with several members who have toured with national stars, including Travis Tritt.
It was also a place to meet local heroes: nonprofit leaders and grant winners who are doing amazing work to serve people who live or work in Eden Prairie. A live auction and special appeal for the Foundation’s “Youth Initiative” were also part of the event.
Here are some Kristen Nelson photos from the event:
Overall, the event netted about $55,500 — of that, more than $15,000 was for the Youth Initiative. Hundreds of Eden Prairie youth will benefit from this outstanding generosity. We are indebted to those who contributed, who attended, and who sponsored. Check out our sponsor list:
