FAQ’s about the COVID-19 Response Fund

The goal of the COVID-19 Response Fund is to quickly provide grant support to nonprofits that are facing large obstacles while providing basis services in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Here’s additional information about the COVID-19 Response Fund created by the Foundation to support the work or organizations struggling to serve Eden Prairie’s most vulnerable residents under difficult circumstances.

FAQ

I’m an individual who’s been affected by COVID-19. Can this fund help me?

It’s understandable for you to think this might be a fund that issues financial help directly to individuals and families. That’s not the case, however. Instead, it’s our intention to get help to individuals and families by offering additional support to the community-based organizations already providing essential services. As we issue grants, we’ll list recipient organizations on the Foundation website. Please check back for grant awards listing organizations that might be able to provide direct support to you.

My organization is interested in resources from this fund. Can we be considered?

It’s clear that a wide range of nonprofits and other organizations will be affected by the COVID-19 outbreak because of canceled fundraisers and other challenges. Our intent is to quickly get resources to local nonprofits that help people who are experiencing poverty, including food insecurity. To do that, we will forego a formal application process and instead seek advice from our Grants Committee and community partners. That said, as a general rule we’re interested in knowing your needs, so please contact us.

I want to donate. Can I restrict my funding to a prioritized grantee?

To ensure we move resources as efficiently as possible and respond to the greatest needs, we are not considering restricted donations at this time.

Should I give to this fund instead of making other donations?

Absolutely not. While this fund is taking a targeted approach, this is a difficult time for many, many organizations doing good work in Eden Prairie, and we encourage you to support them. Most have websites that take online donations or provide information on where to mail a check.

Is there a geographic area of focus for the fund?

Yes, we’re interested in helping organizations that have deep roots in Eden Prairie and are helping large groups of our residents.
